“I am a recovering alcoholic. Sixteen months ago I decided that I needed help and it’s the best thing that ever happened to me. Everybody knows I started getting into a downhill spiral and about 18 months ago my family was in a desperate state. My wife was feeling she couldn’t go on. What I love about it (AA) is, you go into a room and everybody’s equal. I’ve made friends that I wouldn’t have thought possible. When you’re a wine drinker, you don’t think of yourself as … well, alcoholics drink spirits. Since I didn’t drink spirits, I felt I didn’t really have a problem. What was shocking for me was when I realized that I was drinking vodka to hide it.” - Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber interview - The London Times, 2026

THE SOBER CURATOR INTERVIEW

“My name is Allen, and I'm a grateful alcoholic. Thirty-eight years ago (1988, I hit rock bottom after Sir Andrew had elevated me to Broadway legend status, starring as "Joseph" on Broadway with the late, great, Laurie Beechman. I was in a desperate state and decided to quit the business to get sober and allow my recovery to restore my sanity. My mission today is to share my recovery, unity and service with fellow alcoholic artists and to help promote a positive image of Sobriety throughout the artistic world. Actors4Sobriety's primary purpose is to create, develop, fund and promote projects for the Performing Arts that inform, enlighten and educate the general public about a chronic, relapsing brain disease called addiction (substance abuse disorder/aka alcoholism) and how a 12-Step program of recovery can provide permanent, life-saving solutions resulting in spiritual healing and physical health, one day at a time. ” - Allen Fawcett - Chairman of the Board, Actors4Sobriety, Inc. 2026 @allenfawcettofficial1.
